This Apple Mac Mini computer came in for data recovery services with dead #HITACHI#HTS545050B9A302 500GB hard disk drive (#hdd). FAMILY or Series 5K500.B500 PART NUMBER#H2T500854S / #0J13964 MLC:DA3846 #A127121655-1540F / 2Z694-6935 / 0Z694-6843. Owner said it just quit working for no apparent reason.During our#freeevaluation and diagnostic it was determined that drive failed due to heads being stuck on patters. Basically this means that drive has #physicalproblemor physically damaged and will require #cleanroomprocedures. This Drive would not mount (#notmounting ) nor is being detected by #macmini system firmware, makes beeping sound (#computerbeeps, #hddbeeps ) Actually this beeping sound is motor trying to spin platters that are attached to a spindle and #head #sticktion does not allow it spinup. We have located proper #donordrive at our #lab and were able to perform failed parts replacement same day we have received drive. While in such cases it is possible to extract data with original #headset, if sticktion properly #fixed, but it is strongly recommended to replace head set to achieve #bestdatarecovery results. Parts were replaced, firmware modifications done, data extracted – #success!
